At 10.15 last night the loudspeaker announced that there would be a comumnity meeting in 10 minutes. I knew something bad must have happened for them to call a meeting so late, so put on my clothes and went up to the Union. Dean David announced that at 5.30 pm a student had been found in his room who was unresponsive to medical attention and pronounced dead. The police and Consular Services were now on board to investigate and access to the ship was closed. We would be kept up to date and were asked not to speculate in the meantime. Classes were cancelled and a ship's memorial service was held at 2 pm. No word yet as to cause of death.
